נשאלתי בדבר מהות הוויכוח ביני לבין בן זוגי. אז קודם כל, אדגיש שהוא אשר הראה לי את הקליפ מלכתחילה, מתוך תחושת אי נוחות ברורה לגביו. יחד עם זאת, היה לו קשה לקבל את הגישה ה"לגמרי" ביקורתית-שלילית שלי. אכן, כל מה שהצלחתי לראות נגד עיני היו חברי הנהלת קוקה-קולה יושבים ומבכים את ירידת המכירות בעולם המערבי, ככל הנראה, עקב הגברת המודעות לסכנות הבריאותיות הכרוכות בשתיית המשקה, ומכאן למשימה — איך להגביר, כלומר לנצל, את אנשי העולם השלישי ועוד עלובי החיים, כגון, עובדים זרים, על-מנת לשמור על רווחים נאותים. בעלי היקר טוען שאני נוטה (תמיד) לראות את הדברים מלמעלה, דהיינו, ממרומי הכורסה של האקדמאית (הפמיניסטית) הלא מעט פטרנליסטית שלי, ושאינני מסוגלת, לצורך העניין, לראות את הדברים מבחינת אותם פועלים-עבדים בדובאי שזוכים זה עתה, אם באדיבות קוקה-קולה, לשיחת טלפון מאשירה עם בני ביתם ממרחקים. אלא שגם לו לא נותרו מלים בפה כשקראנו לאחר מכן איך חברת קוקה-קולה הנדיבה הורידה אותן "מכונות האושר" כעבור כחודש בלבד. (כלומר, ניצחון סוחף לח"מ – הה!)

For some people, “Hello Happiness” was a poignant reminder of those difficult circumstances. “Almost made me cry,” one person commented on YouTube.
